Green Bay police warn about bank texting scam


GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - Police in Green Bay are warning people about the latest bank text scam.

Some people have alerted them about getting a text that reads: BAYLAKE ALERT...Your DEBIT CARD has been locked. Please call 920-958-7735.

Police indicate the text comes from the number 715-204-1430.

"We are encouraging citizens receiving this message not to call that number," says Police Lt. Kevin Warych. "And if you do have any concerns with your bank account, call your bank or financial institution directly."

Authorities remind people that any legitimate business or company is not going to text, email, send a letter or call you and ask for information that they already have. If you did give any information, please contact your bank. If you notice unauthorized use on your account, contact your local law enforcement agency.
