Tom Gorzelany had a disastorous second inning as the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Milwaukee Brewers Thursday afternoon at Miller Park 8-6. St. Louis touched the left hander for a run in the first and exploded for six runs in the second inning for 7-0 lead. Carlos Beltran, Allen Craig and Matt Holliday all went deep giving Jake Westbrook a big cushion. The Brewers battled back, knocking Westbrook out in the fifth inning. Aramis Ramirez hit another home run and Logan Schafer added a solo shot as the Brewers got the tying runs on base but came up short. The Cardinals took the rubber game in the series to remain a game behind Pittsburgh in the NL Central race. The Brewers are off Thursday before opening a weekend series in Cincinnati.
