MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - Green Bay Rep. Chad Weininger is introducing legislation to help Kewaunee Co. after massive job losses from the closure of the nuclear power station.
The bill would expand development opportunity zone tax credits to areas that experience job losses of at least 100 employees.
Currently, the zone tax credits are only available Janesville, Kenosha and Beloit. Those areas have experienced massive layoffs in recent years.
The opportunity zone tax credits provide tax benefits for job creation, for environmental clean-up, investment in property, property rental as well as research expenses.
Weininger says this could help attract new business or help with expansion of a current business.
