The Chicago Cubs salvaged the final game of a four game series by beating the Milwaukee Brewers 6-1 on a wet night in the Windy City. The teams endured a 66 minute rain delay in the sixth inning. Wily Peralta took the loss after a couple of encouraging starts. He gave up a two run homer to Anthony Rizzo and a solo shot from Starlin Castro. David DeJesus knocked in three runs to make a winner of Edwin Jackson who lasted 8 innings, allowing the one run. Jonathan Lucroy, playing first base, had a pair of doubles and drove in the only Milwaukee tally with a groundout. The Brewers finished the month of July with a .500 record and stand 46-62 on the season. Milwaukee has an off day Thursday before a brief, weekend homsetand against the Washington Nationals at Miller Park.
