ROBERTS, WI (WNS) - Arson is suspected in a fire early Tuesday at an elementary school in far western Wisconsin.
Superintendent David Bradley says it’s not likely that classes can be held in the Saint Croix Central Elementary School in Roberts for the rest of the school year. Bradley said district officials were meeting today to find new locations for about 600 kindergarten-through-fourth graders to complete the final 26 days of the school year.
Firefighters from Roberts were called about 4:00 a.m. Tuesday, and when they arrived, they saw smoke and flames coming from the roof. Officials said the fire burned in several locations, and it ravaged through the school office and library.
The state Fire Marshal is helping local authorities investigate.
The Agave Kitchen restaurant of Hudson said on its Facebook page that it’s conducting a book drive to restock the Saint Croix Central library.
