The Horizon League, like nearly every college basketball conference, is dealing with more change. UIC is expected to leave the Horizon for the Missouri Valley Conference, one year after Butler left for the Atlantic 10. The MVC is losing powerhouse Creighton to the new Big East. The Missouri Valley has also reportedly approached Loyola and Valparaiso as well. The Horizon League is considering the addition of Oakland University of Michigan, now a member of the Summit League, and possibly Missouri-Kansas City. Green Bay remains committed to the Horizon as the changes could take place as soon as next season.
Green Bay womens assistant coach John Barnes will be leaving the Phoenix program to become the head coach of conference rival Youngstown State. Barnes spent seven successful seasons at Michigan Tech before assisting Lisa Stone at Wisconsin for one year and then joining Kevin Borseth's staff at Michigan. Barnes came to Green Bay when Borseth returned to the Phoenix program last year.
