EAU CLAIRE, WI (WTAQ) - A UW-Eau Claire student killed in an apartment fire has been identified as 21-year-old Ross Livermore, a computer science major from Stillwater Minnesota.
Three of his roommates were injured, and they were all friends from Stillwater. 21-year-old Jacob Clarkson – also a computer science major – was hospitalized in Minneapolis with serious burns. He was in critical condition at last word.
The other two, both 21, were treated at an Eau Claire hospital and later released. Both had escaped, while Livermore and Clarkson were found unconscious. Livermore was on leave from UW-Eau Claire this semester.
The fire broke out early Monday in an apartment above a real estate business. A police detective was heading to work when he spotted smoke from the building.
The cause remains under investigation. An electrical engineer was planning to inspect the structure Tuesday.
