The Green Bay Notre Dame Tritons girls golf team is four shots off the team lead after the first 18 holes of the WIAA State Golf meet being played at the Cherokee Country Club in Madison this week. The tourney was moved to Cherokee because course renovation work is being done at the University Ridge course. Kettle Moraine has the team lead after round one with a total score of 343, Mequon Homestead is second at 347 and the Tritons stand third at 347. De Pere is 10th in the team standings with a 387 total. Individually, Emily Joers of Waukesha fired a 75 and is seeking a third straight gold medal. Jessie Staed of Notre Dame is tied for 9th at 81. Green Bay Preble's Maddy Neumeier fired an 84, tied for 13th. Megan Growt had the best round for the Redbirds with a 90. In Division 2, Madison Edgewood leads the team scores at 342, five better that the Prairie School of Racine. Edgewood is seeking it's 11th team title in the past 12 years. Individually, Casey Danielson of Osceola shot a 6 under, 66 as she seeks to become a rare four time champion. The final 18 holes will be played on Tuesday.
