ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ) - The first direct flights to Florida from Green Bay are about to take to the sky.
De Pere based charter flight company MetJet says their first round of flights to Orlando and Fort Meyers begin Sunday.
Austin Straubel International Airport Director Tom Miller says Orlando has been the number one destination for travelers out of the airport for years. Miller says no airline has ever stepped up to provide direct flights to Orlando in the past.
MetJet is working with SunCountry Airlines.
Miller believes more travelers will consider taking vacation to Florida since they won’t have to deal with connecting flights or layovers. MetJet says roundtrip tickets will be comparable to flights out of Milwaukee, around $390 to Orlando and $424 to Fort Meyers.
