EAU CLAIRE, WI (WTAQ) - It took more than a month, but fire inspectors in Eau Claire have finally completed their on-site investigation into an apartment blaze that killed two college students.
Fire inspector Gary Puljas said the physical evidence will be analyzed – and then a cause for the blaze will be determined. He did not say how long the review might take.
Officials have said the fire appeared to have started in one of the victims’ bedrooms.
Meanwhile, investigators returned control of the building to its owner Wednesday.
Jacob Clarkson and Ross Livermore – both 21-year-old U-W Eau Claire students from Stillwater Minnesota – died in the fire on October eighth. Two other roommates escaped with minor injuries. All four had graduated from high school in Stillwater in 2009.
