MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) - Brooks Conrad had a two-run home run and a sacrifice fly as the Milwaukee Brewers bounced back from a Friday loss to beat Pittsburgh, 5-1 Saturday at Miller Park.
Rickie Weeks also started to show some life with the bat, pounding a single and a double and reaching base 4 straight times.
The Brewers were playing without slugger Ryan Braun. He may also be held out of Sunday’s game.
And, they got a strong 7 inning effort from starting pitcher Shaun Marcum. He allowed only 5 hits and no walks, striking out 8 batters as he picked up his 4th victory of the season.
Milwaukee has been victorious in 5 of its last 6 games, though the injury-riddled defending National League Central Division Champions are still five games below .500.
Cody Ransom drove in two runs and made a spectacular play in the 6th inning.
