It’s been thirteen long years since we got any new music from Luscious Jackson , but now the band has returned with a new single.  RollingStone.com has the honor of streaming “Are You Ready?,” the first release from the band’s forthcoming studio album. “The new song ‘Are You Ready?’ is stylistically classic LJ with some new twists,” singer/bassist Jill Cunniff said in a statement.  “Lyrically it's about coming back together as a band, as well as a motivational song.  It's about revolution, personal or political.”      

The band has decided not to work with a major label and will release its new album through PledgeMusic.com -- a website where people can pledge money for creative projects -- in order to raise funds to record the album and promote it.  Everyone who pledges money for the project will receive a copy of the album and will have access to signed merchandise and exclusive content from the band.  In addition, a portion of the pledges will be donated to the Child Welfare League of America , a coalition of hundreds of private and public agencies that aid vulnerable children and families.
