Wednesday was a big day for high school athletes as they were able to officially sign their National Letters of Intent to play collegiate sports. Evan Kanz of Luxemburg-Casco became the first Spartan football player in school history to sign a Division 1 letter, with Eastern Illinois. Another Division 1 recruit on the offensive line is Gabe Roberts of New London, who will play for former Wisconsin offensive coordinator Paul Chryst at the University of Pittsburgh. Several players signed with Division 2 schools including West De Pere quarterback Jay Tollefson, the AP player of the year who led the Phantoms to back to back state titles. Tollefson will attend Northern Michigan. Notre Dame lineman Nate Meyers signed with Southwestern Minnesota State. Bay Port lineman Luke Wendricks will play at Minnesota State and Green Bay Southwest lineman Jordan Jones will play at Concordia College of Minnesota. As for the Wisconsin Badgers, head coach Brett Bielema says they lost a couple of offensive linmen because of the changes in the coaching staff but he's still very happy with his recruiting class which includes a couple of top in-state prospects like linebacker Vince Biegel of Wisconsin Rapids and receiver Leo Musso of Waunakee. WIsconsin also landed quarterback Bart Huston of Dublin, California.
