BURNETT COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) - Forest land in Burnett and Douglas Counties will likely be added to the more than 67,000 acres proposed for state protection.
The Natural Resources Board this week will review multiple plans for land transfer transactions.
In Burnett County, the appealing area is the barrens habitat which accounts for more than 6,300 acres. It will be traded for industrial forest.
In Douglas County, the state would take over a conservation easement of more than 2,200 acres, which includes forests and several bodies of water. That area would be protected from recreational or commercial uses.
