UNDATED (WSAU) About 80 Wisconsin National Guard soldiers will start six weeks of training today, before beginning a nine-month mission in Afghanistan. The 121st Field Artillery unit of Plymouth had a large send-off during the weekend. They’re called the “Bravo Battery” – and they’ll leave for Fort Bliss in Texas, to get final training before they head off to Afghanistan. The unit has been in a training mode at home since March.
The unit is considered to have top-quality marksmen – and members say they look forward to doing what they’ve been trained for. About 12 of the members are making their third trip overseas since Operating Enduring Freedom began.
