Rick Majerus, one of the most respected college basketball coaches in the country with deep roots in Wisconsin, passed away over the weekend in Los Angeles at the age of 64. Majerus died of heart failure. A Milwauke native, Majerus was a longtime assistant under Al McGuire at Marquette and later was head coach at his alma mater. He also turned smaller programs into big successes at Ball State, Utah and most recently, St. Louis University. Majerus led the Billikens to their first NCAA tournament in 12 years last season and won 517 games over the course of his 25 year career.
