MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - State lawmakers are letting Governor Scott Walker have the final say on whether technical college students can use their school ID's to vote. The Government Accountability Board ruled last week that the GOP's new voter ID law gave tech students the ability to use their student ID's at the polls. But today, majority Republicans on the Legislature's rules committee told the Accountability Board to draft their policy in the form of an administrative rule -- and that way, Governor Walker will decide whether to allow it. Democrats on the panel said Walker would reject it. Republicans said they never meant to allow techncial college ID's when they passed the voter law. That's because those students normally go to tech schools in-or-near their hometowns -- and they should other forms of ID's to use at the polls.
