You'll likely see more women hunters this year than ever before and they know how to shoot!
This year, more female hunters are heading out to the woods toting shotguns.
Census Bureau stats that show women now make up 11% of the nation's 13.7 million hunters, which is up from 9% in 2006.
Retailers have contributed to the trend by marketing smaller firearms and gear tailored for women.
The number of hunting licenses granted to women in Minnesota is up from 50,000 in 2000 to 72,000 last year. Some states are conducting hunting workshops specifically designed for women.
One hunter said, "women tend to be actually better hunters because they tend to be a bit more patient, and oftentimes are a much better shot, because they tend to be a bit more focused."
