From 4% to 94% :: Work at St. Jude Affects Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Survival Rates

by Paul Heling

Five year cancer survival rates have changed drastically from 1962 until now.  St. Jude has developed protocols that have helped push overall survival rates for childhood cancers from less than 20 percent when the hospital opened in 1962 to the 80% range overall.

Here's an overview, click below to see the full chart:

  • Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia:  4% to 94%
  • Hodgkin Lymphoma:  50% to 95%
  • Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma:  7% to 80%
  • Ewing Sarcoma:  5% to 65%
