Yes, there is a school district here in Wisconsin that is banning the singing of Christmas songs. Want to guess the district?
The Wausau, WI school district has canceled this year’s Christmas concerts and put strict guidelines on the number of sacred holiday songs the high school choirs can sing.
The high school choir director was told he could perform one sacred song for every five secular songs performed, eliminate all Christmas music, or postpone December concerts.
He was also told that the district had to approve every musical selection.
The director said instead he’d be temporarily disbanding the schools elite choir.
The district said the elementary school concerts were canceled so teachers could spend more time getting the kids ready for testing.
Some parents call the move “anti-Christian” and have created a Facebook page encouraging parents to go to the next school board meeting.
