Tips from a server.

by Randy Allen

I feel that if the food is great and the service is outstanding, then a generous 20% tip is in order.

1. 20% should be everyone’s baseline tip
2. Don’t get a server’s attention by snapping your fingers, jangling your keys, etc
3. Don’t say you’re ready to order when you aren’t
4. If the server asks if you want an appetizer the correct answer isn’t “free bread”
5. Don’t hold a table for longer than you really need to especially on a weekend night
6. Don’t blame the server for changes to the menu
7. Don’t tell the server they cooked your entree wrong
8. Don’t hand your server a credit card and a gift card and feel the need to tell them to run the gift card first - they know how to do their jobs
