Another practice week has begun for the Packers and the concern grows for All Pro wide receiver Greg Jennings. He didn't practice and may not all week. It appears both the team and Jennings are willing to shut him down until the nagging groin injury completely heals. After missing most of training camp with a concussion, Jennings has been bothered by the pulled groin for a couple of weeks, returning against Seattle but then leaving the Saints game after his touchdown catch, one of only 12 grabs so far this season. You'll hear Greg's thoughts on the frustrating injury on the audio link at the bottom of this post.
The only other player sitting out was safety Sean Richardson with a badly pulled hamstring. Bryan Bulaga was limited with a shoulder injury, M.D. Jennings with a sore neck and Davon House with a healing shoulder, were full participants.
Mike Neal returned from his 4 week suspension. The Packers have a roster exemption for Neal until the weekend. The team wants to see how he practices before making a decision on who to cut.
B.J. Raji will have to pony up. He was hit with a fine for his personal foul penalty on a New Orleans field goal attempt in the third quarter. It gave the Saints a first and goal at the one but the defense kept them out of the end zone. Raji knew he was in the wrong and won't appeal the fine.
Aaron Rodgers was named the NFC offensive player of the week award for his effort against the Saints. He completed over 75% of his passes (31 of 41) for 319 yards and four touchdowns with a season high passer rating of 119.7. It's the sixth award for Rodgers in his career, all since December of 2010, the most for any player in the league over that span.
I post my first quarter report card earlier and Mike McCarthy offers his summation of the first four games, along with comments from Mike Neal and Jennings on the audio link below.
