The Packers will apparently head to the Big Apple without their big play man on defense for a second straight week. Clay Matthews did not practice on Wednesday as preparations began for the Sunday night, prime time showdown with the New York Giants. Mike McCarthy said the hamstring injury will have Matthews doubtful at best. Charles Woodson is still out and Sam Shields had a setback with his ankle injury. More serious than first thought according to McCarthy and he's also been ruled out of Sunday night's game. On the bright side, Greg Jennings was a limited participant for the first time since before the New Orleans game in September. Don't get too excited, the Pro Bowl receiver isn't ready to take the field just yet, maybe another week or two before he's full speed and cleared to play. Others on the first injury report of the week were Donald Driver, limited with a thumb injury; John Kuhn, limited with a hamstring; Terrell Manning, limited with a shoulder; Andrew Quarless, limited off his knee injury; Erik Walden was limited. Vic So'oto missed practice because of illness and B.J. Raji was a full participant after reinjuring his ankle last Sunday in Detroit.
The guys were quick to shower and spiff up after practice, the 2012 official team picture was taken inside Lambeau Field.
Sunday night's game will feature the two most recent Super Bowl winners and these meetings with the Giants, the 6th between Mike McCarthy and Tom Coughlin are taking on an ever increasing importance in the power positioning in the NFC, a topic we explore a little further on the link below. Happy Thanksgiving, back with a game preview on Friday.
