Ryan returns to the Pack

Posted by Mark Daniels on

Ryan Grant is back with the Pack.  He piled up over 4000 yards rushing in five seasons before his release after the 2011 season.  He's taking the roster spot, not of James Starks, but of rookie free agent running back Johnny White.  It was White placed on injured reserve because of a severe concussion while Starks may need several weeks to recover from a knee injury.  The Packers also added two players to the practice squad today, offensive lineman Shea Allard who was with the team in training camp and safety Chaz Powell, a rookie from Penn State who was undrafted and signed with the Raiders throughout the pre-season.

The team began its practice week for Sunday night's rematch with the Detroit Lions and there are still plenty of medical concerns up and down the lineup.  On offense, T.J. Lang did not practice because of his ankle injury and it appears early on that rookie Don Barclay will get his first start Sunday night.  Starks obviously didn't practice, nor did C.J. Wilson with a knee injury, Mike Neal with a shoulder issue, Jordy Nelson with his hamstring pull and Clay Matthews with the same injury.  Working on a limited basis were Donald Driver with a thumb injury, Terrell Manning with a shoulder, Jeff Saturday with a sore foot and Sam Shield and Charles Woodson both practiced on a limited basis after missing several games with the ankle issue for Shields and Woodson's healing collarbone break.

On the link below, you'll hear from Grant and the rest of the team over his return to Lambeau today.
