Clay Matthews was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week on Wednesday. Matthews recorded five tackles, 4 of them for losses and three sacks in Green Bay's 34-7 victory over the Buffalo Bills. Matthews leads the NFL with 6 sacks over the first two weeks and its the second time he's won the award.
Ryan Grant had successful surgery to repair the ligament damage in his ankle. The operation was performed on Tuesday. Grant was lost for the season when he got hurt at the conclusion of an 18 yard run against the Philadelphia Eagles on opening day. On his Twitter account, Grant wrote Wednesday: "letting everyone know that surgery went great. Everyone's prayers n support has made this an easy process so far and I'm looking forward to coming back even more of a beast."
The practice week for Monday night's showdown with the Chicago Bears finally gets underway today. The biggest question going into the Monday night contest at Soldier Field will be the knees of Chad Clifton. While he started against Buffalo, Clifton lasted only 4 series and was replaced by number one pick Brian Bulaga. Clifton may not have to practice today to start but will need some work, without pain or Bulaga will make his starting debut against the Bears' new Pro Bowl free agent acquisition Julius Peppers.
