Packers Lions preview

Posted by Mark Daniels on

Last Monday, it was the oldest NFL rivalry, now it's the resumption of the oldest, continuous rivalry.  The Packers and Lions have played every year since 1932 and on Sunday, Green Bay will try to make it 10 in a row in the series and an NFL record 19 straight at home.   The Packers are prohibitive favorites to rebound from the Monday night loss to the Bears in Chicago.   Before we visit the locker room, a couple of late week notes...

Linebacker Frank Zombo was fined $7500.00 dollars for his hit on Jay Cutler last week.  The helmet to helmet hit drew a 15 yard penalty and denied Nick Barnett what appeared to be a game saving interception.   Zombo will start for the second straight week for the injured Brad Jones.  We finally may get a look at Mike Neal.  The Pack's second round pick has yet to hit the field, dealing with a sore rib and chest muscle that got hurt right before the regular season opener.  He's been a full participant at practice all week and should make his debut Sunday.  Mike McCarthy says there will be changes in special teams personel this week after the cover units almost let Devin Hester single handedly win that game in Chicago, a 28 yard return set up the Bear's first half score and his 62 yard dash in the 4th quarter was Chicago's only other touchdown.

On paper, the Packers have clear superiority, but they'll play on the grass at Lambeau to settle Sunday, here's what the guys in the locker room had to say about the matchup:
