We're talking about practice.....
The 2010 Pre-Season schedule is out and the Packers will open at home this August against the Cleveland Browns. A firm date hasn't been set, but the game will be at Lambeau between August 12 and 16. Former coach Mike Holmgren is now the president of the Browns and will surely make the trip to see his new team against his old team. That game will also be the Midwest Shrine Game for the Gold Package season ticket holders. In week 2, the Packers will travel to Seattle to meet the Seahawks, now under the watch of General Manager John Schneider, the Green Bay native and Pack's former Pro Personel Director. The dates for that game fall between August 19 and 23. Head Coach Mike McCarthy is hoping those first two games will be held on Saturday nights. He says that will give his team some continuity early in camp, with the Family Night scrimmage set for Saturday, August 7, McCarthy doesn't like a choppy schedule with games on a Monday, followed by a Friday for example. It cuts into his plan for regularly scheduled off days in training camp, part of his rest and recovery schedule. The third pre-season game is firm, a Thursday night, August 26 against the Indianapolis Colts at Lambeau Field. That date is set because ESPN will cover that one nationally. It's also the Bishop's Charities contest for the Green Bay season ticket holders. For the first time in 9 years, the Packers will not finish against the Tennessee Titans. Green Bay will close the dress rehearsal month in Kansas City against the Chiefs either September 2 or 3. The NFL will release the regular season schedule in mid-April. Just a reminder, the Draft is coming fast, a three day affair this year with first round coverage Thursday night, April 22, Rounds 2 and three on Friday night, and the final 4 rounds on Saturday. Listen for my draft preview series, a look at the Packer needs and top prospects, beginning Thursday, April 15.
