Send A Christmas Card To A Wounded Warrior

Posted by Bear on

Put a little kindness in your heart and help us out! We are trying to make sure that all the wounded warriors at Walter Reed get some holiday cheer sent their way this year in the form of Christmas cards. Some of these heroes do not have family and could use something to brighten their day. All you have to do is take a couple of minutes and send as many cards as you can get to the address below. Please pass the word around and lets make sure that no one is left out this year!!

When sending out Christmas cards this year please send one addressed to:

Holiday Mail for Heroes

P.O. Box 5456

Capitol Heights, MD 20791-5456

The deadline for having cards to the P.O. Box is Friday, December 7th.

Card Guidelines: Every card received will be screened for hazardous materials by Pitney Bowes and then reviewed by Red Cross volunteers working around the country.

Please observe the following guidelines to ensure a quick reviewing process:

1.) Ensure that all cards are signed.

2.) Use generic salutations such as "Dear Service Member." Cards addressed to specific individuals cannot be delivered through this program.

3.) Only cards are being accepted. Do not send or include letters.

4.) Do not include email or home addresses on the cards: the program is not meant to foster pen pal relationships.

5.) Do not include inserts of any kind, including photos: these items will be removed during the reviewing process.

6.) Please refrain from choosing cards with glitter or using loose glitter as it can aggravate health issues of ill and injured warriors.

7.) If you are mailing a large quantity of cards, please bundle them and place them in large mailing envelopes or flat rate postal shipping boxes. Each card does not need its own envelope, as envelopes will be removed from all cards before distribution.
