Moneyball star Jonah Hill splits from Dustin Hoffman's daughter Ali

Jonah Hill and Ali Hoffman have called off  their romance. 

It will be a particularly bitter blow for the  Moneyball actor, as he is incredibly close to her Tootsie star father  Dustin.

According to Us Weekly, the couple have  called time on their relationship after nine months together.

Funnyman Jonah, 28, is said to have been  close to Ali  for some time before they started dating, despite the fact he  is four years older than her.

They both attended Crossroads High School in  Santa Monica, they were in different years.

The Superbad star has tried to keep his  relationship with Ali low key, and toldradio DJ Howard Stern in March: 'I'm not  gonna talk about relationships. This is crazy.'

However persuasive shock jock managed to get  the roly-poly star to admit: 'She's f***ing incredible, she's the greatest  person I know. I'm happy.'

The couple had been rumoured to have got  together in January, shortly after Jonah came back from holidaying with the  Hoffman family.

The Straw Dogs actor had a hand in getting  Jonah's career off the ground after spotting him while he was still in high  school, helping him land his first role in I Heart Huckabees.

Jonah has previously talked about how close  he is to the Oscar-winning Rain Man actor, saying: "Dustin is the one who  encouraged me to be an actor.

'I knew him through his kids. They went to  college with me and high school.'

Before dating Ali, Jonah dated his high  school girlfriend Jordan Klein for several years, but they broke up in October  2011.
