Teen actress Ariel Winter was removed from her home by a judge after allegations of physical and emotional abuse by her mother.

The 14-year-old Winter plays Alex Dunphy on "Modern Family."

A judge determined the allegations that the actress star was being physically and emotionally abused by her mother Crystal Workman were serious enough that the judge placed Ariel in a temporary guardianship with her older sister.

  Nearly two decades ago the older sister was also pulled from the mom based on similar abuse allegations.
