What You Don't Know About Break-Ups

Posted by Abby Crawford on

In case you didn't know, your exes are probably stalking you on Facebook.  In a recent survey, 85% of people admitted that they check their ex's Facebook page.  And almost 20% said they check it at least once a WEEK.

--Here's a list from "Cosmo" of three more things you might not know about break-ups.

#1.)  Trash-Talking Your Ex Is Good for You.  In a study at the University of Utah, people who talked smack about their ex after a break-up were less likely to feel depressed about it.  And they were more likely to have moved on after a month.

#2.)  You Shouldn't Necessarily Cut All Ties with Them.  According to a study at the University of Arizona, exes tend to feel better about their break-up if they maintain some kind of friendship afterward.

--Obviously that's not always possible, and in some cases it's best to just forget about them and move on.  But if you think you can somehow do the "we're still friends" thing, go for it.

#3.)  Men Have a Harder Time with Break-Ups Than You Think.  When single men were asked if they wish they were still in a previous relationship, more than HALF of them said yes.  When women were asked, 75% of them said NO.
