St. Jude Patient Chase

Posted by Abby Crawford on

We just got done spending an hour with St. Jude patient, Chase. He found out he had a brain tumor when he was 14, skull cancer at 16, and found out a couple months ago that he has leukemia at 18.

Probably the bravest kid I ever met.

He is living life to the fullest and knows that St. Jude is doing what they can to get him better and get him back home to South Carolina. He was an inpatient at St. Jude for the last 6 months and was discharged last night. He will now live on campus at the hospital for a few more months until they know that his cancer scans are clean.

I wish I could post a picture of him, but obviously for privacy and respect, I can't, but know that he was very handsome and quite the charmer.

He felt bad that the other teenage girls at the hospital were crying over the fact that they lost their hair from their chemo treatments, so he made up a bunch of shirts that say, "Bald Chicks Are Hot" and now some of the nurses and doctors at the hospital wear them.

This is why we do the radiothon every year....for kids like Chase who have hope of a bright future.
