Dear Abby,
My girlfriend is currently going to law school in Madison, she is super smart and I'm very proud of her. However, without knowing it, she puts me down about my current job situation. I never went to college and do pick-up jobs here and there. She always talks about how she has to pay for everything, and she should get used to it because SHE'LL be buying a house for us and SHE'LL be the sole provider. It really hurts, how do I approach this?

Dear Poor,
First off, don't let anyone put you down about a job choice. In this economy, anyone with any kind of job should be thankful. Also, even if you think she is saying this stuff without knowing, she does. She probably has some insecurity and has to put you down to make her feel better about something. Tell her that you want to be her equal partner, and she because she chose to be a lawyer doesn't mean she is better or more important than you. Remember, she hasn't graduated yet. ;) Just sit with her and express your concerns, I'm guessing she'll realize her mistakes and apologize.
