Dear Abby,
I graduate from college after the fall semester of 2010, and I am extremely nervous. After I graduate, I will no longer be under my parents' insurance and I will need a full time job of my own. Not to mention having to start paying off my student loans...I am very scared. There are just no full time jobs available and I'm worried that nothing will change by the time I graduate...any advice?
Sad Graduate
Dear Sad Graduate,
Let's just say a lot can happen in a year...I am the same as you. I worry about the future way too much. I am also a soon to be graduate, but I'm graduating in May, and not being under my dad's name for insurance purposes is very scarry, but this is the advice I have for you. If there are no full time jobs available when it is time to find one, get 3 part time jobs...do what it takes to pay the rent. You may not have insurance with part time jobs, but at least you're making money. Be smart with your money...don't spend it on partying and clothes, but save now what you can because it might come in handy later. Also, remember, you have a 6-month grace period before you have to start paying off your student loans, and that is going to help you out tremendously. I'm in the same boat as you Sad Graduate, it is scarry, but we'll get through it...I'm sure ;)
