In Love But Taken

Posted by Abby Crawford on

Dear Abby,

I am totally smitten by one of my guy friends, but he has a girlfriend.  We text and talk all the time, and I told him how I feel about him, and although he never said he liked me back, he also said that "he never said he didn't like me".  So what am I supposed to do? He is taken and although he flirts back, I don't know if he would leave his girlfriend for me.  Nothing has happened and no cheating has occured, but I really like him.  What do you suggest I do?

Dear Smitten,

TOUGH SITUATION!!!!!! I always say you cannot help how you feel, that's why you should never be ashamed to tell someone how you feel regardless of the situation.  However, I am 100% against cheating, so I give you props for keeping this pretty innocent....HOWEVER, flirting is an act that happens between two people who are in some way attracted to each other.  Do not let this guy play you.  If he is texting and flirting with you, make him make a decision. Maybe he needs to tell his lady friend about you and he should try going on a date with you...just to test the waters. There is obviously feelings and emotion invested in this emotional affair and I think he at least owes you a chance. I would usually say forget him, but the fact that he is constantly texting you shows that he is feeling something too, and it shouldn't be ignored, otherwise it might turn into something more serious and then people will get hurt.  Once again, do not let him play you. If he refuses to give you a chance, you have to forget him.  In that case, you can do better. ;)
