I am broken hearted...my on and off again boyfriend of 1 1/2 years broke up with me.  Not only did he break up with me, he told me that he liked me and he liked me a lot, but he knew in his heart that he would never love me.  After 1 1/2 years he doesn't love me?! What was he keeping me around for?! And he was just at my family's for Thanksgiving and was laughing and bonding with my dad, and now, two weeks later, he says this and does this to me.  I still love him.  I loved him two months into the relationship, what should I do? I want him back.

Dear Broken Heart,

I'm going to be blunt...GET OVER HIM! Sorry, but he sounds inconsiderate and selfish.  A year and a half is a long time to be dating...did he ever say the phrase "I love you" and just not mean it? He's been lying to you in that case and made you out to be a fool. Also, the fact that he went to a family gathering and acted like nothing was wrong was cowardly...unless you did something horrible, you don't go from loving someone to then dumping them 2 weeks later.  Broken Heart, you can do better. Don't think of the last year and a half as a waste, but as a lesson.  Know your significant other and keep the communication lines open so that you're both on the same page.  I understand that he might have lead you to believe that you were on the same page, but obviously you weren't.  Take time to heal and get over him, you will find better...just be patient.
