This was on the Today show recently...very scary for parents:

The tragic death of a South Carolina 10-year-old more than an hour after he had gone swimming has focused a spotlight on the little-known phenomenon called “dry drowning” — and warning signs that every parent should be aware of.  Read more HERE

After reading this article, I feel like I don't ever want to bring my kids swimming again.  Or even leave them in the bath unattended for more than like 5 seconds...

Can we ever be safe enough with our kids??

It's such a tough thing for a parent...where do you draw the line?  I mean, you can't raise you child in a bubble, but when you read an article like this it makes you think:

"Am I being safe enough?"

Again, there is a fine line between being "smart" and being "smothering".

I guess I'll certainly keep this article in mind, but remember, how many kids go swimming every year?  How many baths are taken every year?   If you do the math, the chance it happens is astronomical.  Statistically speaking it's probably way more dangerous to drive your child ANYWHERE in a vehicle, or even take them on a walk in a stroller...

I won't freak out about this, but I'll certainly remember it!
