Angry Birds is highest grossing paid app of all time. 1.7 billion people developed a connection with those birds and wasted countless of hours at work trying knock green pigs out of the sky. The story line needs major fleshing out, but the brand is already there. That's why major movie studios were tripping over themselves for the chance to score the rights to the Angry Birds movie.
Sony Pictures were the victors. They announced today that they're secured the rights for an animated movie. The tentative release date is July 1, 2016.
Good idea or is this a new low in the movie industry?
