A video has been released that has gone viral by a country music reporter for Entertainment weekly by the name of Grady Smith.
He put together a youtube video titled "Why country music was awful in 2013".
His point was that country music doesn't have a story anymore. It's all girls, jeans, boots, booze, and pickup trucks. He basically referred to today's country as junk.
While he has a point I have to agree to disagree. I'm a HUGE fan of country as a whole. Do I agree that the style of the country genre has changed, yes. Do I think it has gone so downhill that it is horrendous to listen to? Absolutely not.
The "is country music even country music anymore" question is always a debated topic. While I love the classics I do believe things change. Music changes, sounds change. I think if we have more of an embrace mentality, than a this isn't what it used to be mentality it isn't all that bad.
