Carrie Underwood in a "wee bit of trouble" Posted May 15, 2012 by Dan Stone

Carrie Underwood visited "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," where she admits she got into "a wee bit of trouble" with hubby/professional hockey player Mike Fisher. Carrie famously labeled her husband a 'hoarder.' She is, too. Carrie explains: "I had my closet full of my stuff, and he's there with his stuff. Now we share. We're much better. I'm not the only-child syndrome thing, like I don't share my toys and my space. I'm better!" Also, her healthy vegan diet is rubbing off on her meat-eating man. She says, "He's actually getting better. I'll offer to make him something I'm making myself, and he'll say sure." Carrie performs tonight on Dancing With The Stars...and on September 26th in Green Bay!

How do I listen to Y100 on my iPhone, iPad, or Kindle Fire? Posted May 14, 2012 by Dan Stone

Here's an e-mail I get from a listener:

"I have an iPhone and an iPad, but I'm not able to listen to Y100 on them because they don't support Flash Player.  I was listening on a Kindle Fire that I got for Christmas but Y100 must have changed which Flash Player was needed because beginning sometime in January, I wasn't able to hear it anymore.  I even asked Best Buy what was wrong with my Kindle, but theirs didn't run the radio stations Flash Player either."

You can listen to Y100 on any i or Android device with a  free app from "TuneInRadio" you can find it in your app store or click below . Thanks for listening to Y100 everywhere you go!

Take As Much Vacation Time As You Need’ On The Honor System Posted May 8, 2012 by Dan Stone

Ask any psychologist, and you’ll hear that the best way to ensure productivity is by ensuring adequate downtime — hence the generous vacation policy at many successful companies. But rather than two- or three-week vacation allotments, some forward-looking companies are eliminating vacation policies altogether. Would the company you work for ever consider this?

The companies who have changed their vacation policies haven’t done away with vacation, they’ve simply eliminated vacation time tracking, and instituted an honor system in which people take the time they need, when they need it.

I think I need some vacation right about now LOL ~ Dan

What’s your take? Is this a policy that would work at your organization?

Man handcuffs himself to chair to quit smoking..loses key! Posted May 7, 2012 by Dan Stone

(NOT-SO-CLEVER) FELLA LOCKED HIMSELF TO A CHAIR TO QUIT SMOKING, THEN LOST THE KEY. DID YOU QUIT? WHAT TRICKS DID YOU USE?

The blotter is derived from recent central dispatch records and incident reports of area police agencies.

Wise County Sheriff's Office

April 30

A Coeburn woman reported "rescue" was needed for her next door neighbor, who had fallen on his porch. EMS arrived to the subject, "handcuffed himself so he could not smoke a cigarette." The handcuffs were too tight, causing swelling, and the man had lost the key to unlock the restraints. Ambulance personnel rcalled for police assistance adding the man requested someone pull up his pants. Give him credit for trying! ~ Dan

Everbody lies on Facebook Posted May 4, 2012 by Dan Stone

One-quarter of survey respondents admitted to altering their info

How to protect your privacy on Facebook? For an increasing number of users, the answer is simple: Lie. A quarter of respondents in a new Consumer Reports study admitted that they “alter personally identifiable information,” such as birthdate, on Facebook. Technically, that’s a violation of the social networking site’s Terms of Service, the New York Timespoints out. And more than twice as many people are doing it now as were two years ago, when the same question was asked.

Most of those surveyed said they protected their privacy by adjusting various settings, while almost 20% said they didn’t do anything to protect their privacy. Consumer Reports says the increase in people who lie is proof that users are becoming more wary of Facebook, and the organization’s advocacy arm is urging Facebook, via a petition, to strengthen its privacy controls. The Consumer Reports study also found that a large number of Facebook users revealed information on the site that could hurt them, including their whereabouts on a particular day or health information.

Lucky Golfer Escapes Gator Attack Posted May 2, 2012 by Dan Stone

A Florida golfer got a lucky escape after he was grabbed by a 9-foot (2.7-meter) alligator as he went to recover his ball.

Albert Miller, 75, was set upon by the reptile at Lake Ashton Golf and Country Club in Lake Wales last week, The Ledger newspaper reported Monday.

Miller was playing golf with three friends when he hit a bad shot on the 15th hole and went to collect his ball from a pond.

As he turned to leave, the alligator launched itself out of the water and sank its teeth into Miller's left knee. His friends rushed to his aid and clung on to his arms as the animal thrashed wildly and attempted to pull him into the water.

Miller said, "He let me go. I was three feet from my life. He had me submerged up to my belt buckle. That was my miracle of the month."

The senior citizen required 40 stitches to close a 10-inch (25 centimeter) cut and two other wounds.

He added, "He just filleted me. You could see into the bone."

Gary Morse, spokesman for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, said trappers captured the alligator. It weighed approximately 190 pounds (86 kilograms).

Investigators discovered another 6-foot (1.83-meter) alligator in the pond. They said the captured alligator was illegally fed.
