by Paul Heling

Carrie Underwood always had dreams of becoming a singer, but she put those dreams on hold for a degree in broadcast journalism. However, during her senior year of college at Northeastern State University in Oklahoma, Underwood auditioned for American Idol. She became the fourth winner of the TV series.

Bio reports Underwood had quick success with her debut album, Some Hearts , going triple platinum. She won countless awards for her first album. In 2007, she released her sophomore album, Carnival Ride, which scored several number one singles as well. Due to this success, in 2008, at the age of 26, she became the youngest member to the Grand Ole Opry.

She continues to be one of the most popular voices in todays country music!
