    At funeral, dog mourns the death of Navy SEAL killed in Afghanistan

    Jon Tumilson, a Navy SEAL, was one of 30 Americans killed in Afghanistan on Aug. 6 when a rocket-propelled grenade took outa U.S. Chinook helicopter. He was mourned at a service in Rockford, Iowa, attended by 1,500 family members,  friends--and Hawkeye, Tumilson's dog.

     

    The Labrador retriever was such an important part of Tumilson's life that the friends and family of the San Diego resident called the dog his "son."

    When Tumilson's friend Scott Nichols walked to the front of the room to speak, Hawkeye followed, Today.com reports. "As Nichols prepared to memorialize his friend, Hawkeye dutifully laid down near the casket," Scott Stump writes.

    The photo on the right was taken by Tumilson's cousin, Lisa Pembleton,  and posted on Facebook. Pembleton wrote on her Facebook page, "To say  that he was an amazing man doesn't do him justice. The loss of Jon to  his family, military family, and friends is immeasurable."

    What You Need

    1 lb. lean ground beef
    2 Tbsp.  finely chopped red onions
    4 KRAFT Singles, halved
    8   slider buns, toasted
    1/2 cup coleslaw
    4 slices  OSCAR MAYER Bacon, cooked, cut in half
    1/3 cup BULL'S-EYE Memphis Style Barbecue Sauce

    Make It

    HEAT grill to medium-high heat.

    MIX meat and onions; shape into 8 patties.

    GRILL 3 min. on each side or until done (160ºF), topping with Singles for the last minute.

    FILL buns with burgers and remaining ingredients.

  • BBQ Beef Brisket...YUM!

    This is one of my all time favorite Sammy's!

    What You Need

    1 boneless beef brisket (4 lb.)
    1 large  yellow onion, sliced
    1 cup KRAFT Original Barbecue Sauce
    1 pkg.  (16 oz.) coleslaw blend (cabbage slaw mix)
    1/2 cup MIRACLE WHIP Dressing
    4   green onions, sliced
    10 kaiser rolls, split

    Make It

     

    PLACE meat in slow cooker, cutting into 2 pieces if necessary to fit; top with yellow onions and barbecue sauce. Cover with lid. Cook on LOW 10 to 12 hours (or on HIGH 5 to 6 hours).

    REMOVE meat from slow cooker; cut into thin slices. Return to slow cooker; stir gently. Combine coleslaw blend, dressing and green onions.

    SERVE meat with coleslaw and rolls on the side. Or fill rolls with meat mixture and coleslaw just before serving.

    Well, here we are, my first day on Y100 and I have to be honest with you. I'M A NERVOUS WRECK!!!

    Twenty five years in radio but the Number 1 station? Taking over for a talented guy like Bryan Scott?

    Well, I'll make you this promise. If YOU can get through my first day (and all the potential mistakes) then I know I'LL get through it as well. I hope I can perform to your satisfaction. I'm thrilled to be working for my all time favorite radio station and really looking forward to meeting you!
