Michigan farmers make good progress with corn, soybeans

by Dan Cash

LANSING (WKZO) -- Michigan farmers are finally making some progress getting the corn and soybeans in the ground.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture says 32-percent of the corn crop has now been planted, up from just five-percent last week and 13-percent of soybeans are in the ground.  The progress is still well behind average and last year.

At this time in 2012, 58-percent of the corn crop was in, while 30-percent of soybeans had been planted.
